Frankenstein’s Society

Ramon Arias | January 22, 2013

In 1818, Frankenstein, a science-fiction novel written by Mary Shelly was first published, and it became a success. Most likely, you have heard of Frankenstein, but just in case you are not familiar with the famous drama let me briefly fill you in. It is about the life and vision of a student of medicine. His vision was to create a human being of his making. He gathered body parts from exhumed corpses; he sewed them together and was successful in giving life to his assembled corpse. After his accomplishment, nothing went well for the obsessed scientist and his created monster.

You may say, “thank God it is only a science-fiction novel.” I have bad news for you. For thousands of years the world has been plagued with Victor Frankenstein’s same obsession, that is, a vision of creating the perfect man and society. And, every time all the attempts have been utter failures causing the destruction of billions of lives.

Without going too far into history, it is sufficient to be reminded of the most destructive century in the history of the world, namely, the 20th century. Frankenstein’s monster makes its appearance in the different scenarios of social life. You may think I'm exaggerating but there is no other way we can call all the atrocities men have done to their fellow human beings.

Crooked minds can only produce crooked results. Vladimir Lenin believed in Karl Marx’s monstrous ideas and launched his philosophical social engineering in Russia with catastrophic results. That was the legacy inherited by the monster that followed him, Joseph Stalin, who slaughtered more than 20 million of his own countrymen with the obsession of creating a perfect society regulated by a powerful central government. Stalin had competition from another monster by the name of Adolf Hitler, an unknown person who climbed up the ladder of politics with ideas no different than Stalin. Hitler envisioned the creation of the Aryan race and the German people believed him. In the process, between 1933 and 1945, the powerful Nazi central government killed a little over 11 million, without counting the millions who lost their lives as a result of World War II. You can know about all the powerful central government monsters that have devastated their nations and still not believe it is happening right before your very own eyes until it is too late. To liberate one’s self from such a grip is too costly.

The ideas of socialist-centered planning believe that man is all there is in this world and in the universe. Therefore, the universe revolves around man and with the help of the leadership and political control of the Victor Frankensteins of the world they can fundamentally transform society and fulfill people's expectations of the change they have been waiting for.

The Frankensteins of the world honestly believe that man is the master of everything; therefore, all decisions are up to him. They believe this is the reason people need a master to guide them and perfect them. The results of their ideas speak for themselves; and, sad to say, they have moved the world for far too long. A tyrant can massacre and commit genocide, even though there are laws to punish these crimes. Yet, they don't see themselves in the same classification. They are, after all, the creators of that segment of society that needs their Frankenstein.

For over 100 years America has been ruled by the worldview of those who have died long ago. The United States, and the rest of the world, is in really bad shape as a result of the ideas by those with wrong knowledge from a wrong source that have molded generations. Let me give you the names of some of the people with different backgrounds but with the same misguided ideas about men and society. You are going to have to do your own homework in finding out the truth about these individuals and their influence in the world, however, Brannon Howse wrote a synopsis on each one of them: Alice Bailey, Helen Schucman, Julius Wellhausen, Soren Kierkegaard, Frederick Nietzsche, John Dewey, the Frankfurt school, Betty Friedan, William James, Alfred Kinsey, Aldus Huxley, Benjamin Bloom, B. F. Skinner, Charles Darwin, Karl Marx, John Maynard Keynes, Christopher Columbus Langdell, Saul Alinsky, Sigmund Freud, Margaret Sanger, and Roger Baldwin.

The list is much longer than what Howse deals with, but it gives you an idea to understand the Frankenstein mentality that now dominates the social landscape of this once great nation. I affirm this not out of pessimism, but with a realistic assessment of facts that continue to accumulate day after day.

Just in case you think I'm exaggerating in pointing out the Frankenstein society consider that on January 22, 2013 our nation arrives at the 40th anniversary of the murder of more than 55 million unborn children and counting. We have killed our best hope for the future.

Consider the kind of individuals public schools are producing. Immorality has become the order of the day and is dominating society. The growth of central government has expanded by leaps and bounds day after day. If you think the last four years were bad, brace yourself; it is going to get much worse because the Frankensteins of politics are on a roll. For the most part, you cannot even count on the church to be salt and light as it is too busy teaching and feeding spiritual junk food. They too have been dominated by the Frankenstein mentality. All this is the result of men wanting to create men after their own image and rejecting the most fundamental truth that we are created in a marvelous way to serve one another for a higher purpose.

The fool continues to say that there is no God and that Jesus was a simple mortal and anyone who follows his doctrines is a fool. They continue to teach that the Bible is a fairytale book and only the simple-minded can believe what is written in its pages. King David dedicated a special psalm to the fools contrasted with those who are committed to live by the unchanging eternal truth of God:

“The fool says in his heart, ‘There is no God.’ They are corrupt, they do abominable deeds, there is none who does good. The Lord looks down from heaven on the children of man, to see if there are any who understand, who seek after God. They have all turned aside; together they have become corrupt; there is none who does good, not even one. Have they no knowledge, all the evildoers who eat up my people as they eat bread and do not call upon the Lord? There they are in great terror, for God is with the generation of the righteous. You would shame the plans of the poor, better than but the Lord is his refuge.” (Psalm 14).

The Victor Frankensteins will never be able to create the perfect man much less the perfect society for their outcome would always be the same, a Frankenstein society. God is the Creator of the human race and Jesus Christ is the firstborn of the new creation. In 1620, America started in the right direction to form the new society of God, but she has lost her way. However, it is not impossible to rebuild according to God's purpose for this nation and the world.

It really is up to us what kind of society we want to continue to be, either a Frankenstein society or a godly society.
