California’s Blatant Aggression Against Christianity

It is with great sadness that I have watched California, my home state, where I was born, raised, educated and launched into the world in adulthood, be transformed into one of the most liberal states in America. Not only have I seen California drift farther and farther away from God but also become very antagonistic and aggressive against God and Biblical Christianity as a whole.
California has the evidence to prove that it is one of the most radical states in all of our country. It started pulling away from God back in the 50’s and 60’s and it hasn’t stopped or even slowed the pace, on the contrary the shift has increased. One such example is what happened most recently on California campuses where students fought heavily against conservative speakers. Such was the experience at UC Berkeley of conservative Ann Coulter in April 2017 whose speech was canceled twice and Ben Shapiro in September of 2017 also at UC Berkeley.
The Democrats in the California legislature have drafted a bill that would effectively silence biblical counseling practices toward individuals in the LGBT community. There is no denying this community is quickly becoming a protected class in this country.
The California Assembly Bill 2943, would ban all legitimate Christian counseling from helping people in the homosexual lifestyle to have a life change — this is a tragedy for mental health providers and of course pastors and Christian counselors. Many have rightfully raised concern about the use of the Bible itself. Naturally, liberals have denied that this bill threatens the sale of the Bible, but their goal is very clear. They want to silence Biblical Christians and destroy God’s Word, which teaches against this and other harmful lifestyles.
The protection of the homosexual community is clearly behind this bill, which was offered by assembly member Evan Low who is a homosexual himself. Although, the text doesn't mention the Bible because the language is very “cleverly” disguised, the implication is there. In a court dispute it could easily be applied to banning the Bible and all Christian counseling that helps people with same-sex attractions to have a life change.
Bill 2943 is an amendment to the existing Consumer Legal Remedies Act and makes it clear that any attempts by “advertising, offering to engage in, or engaging in sexual orientation change efforts with an individual” is an unlawful practice. But, this doesn’t include the Bible, or so goes the argument.
There is troubling language regarding the definition of the terms "sexual orientation change efforts" by the proposed bill because it defines it as "any practices that seek to change an individual’s sexual orientation. This includes efforts to change behaviors or gender expressions, or to eliminate or reduce sexual or romantic attractions or feelings toward individuals of the same sex." This could be a strong foothold to thwart Biblical Christian efforts to minister to people in those lifestyles.
Naturally, there are those who are defending this bill by saying the impact is either insignificant or non-existing for the faith community. It is only a matter of time, and a short one at that, before they come after Biblical counselors and pastors. After all, it has been open season for Biblical Christians to adapt their views with the cultural trends. If they do not, they are fined, jailed, and sued into submission as we have already seen with the bakers, the florist, the photographer, owners of wedding venues, and Clerk of the court. This bill would be more than a push, it would be a devastating shove off the cliff for Biblical Christianity.
As the saying goes, “the trouble with start is to stop.” If this bill gets signed into law, does that mean that all Christian activity to assist homosexuals in a life change will be prosecuted against?
This bill is clearly formulated for this bill will be used as a powerful weapon to silence the biblical worldview against homosexuality.
I wonder what Christians in California will do to fight back this aggression, if anything.“For the sons of this world are more shrewd in dealing with their own generation than the sons of light.” Luke 16:8
