Reminder to America of the First 2015 Democrat Presidential Debate
Ramon Arias | October 19, 2015
If I were to put in a nutshell what should have been very clear to America from the first 2015 Democrat presidential debate, it would be to tell America to accept her reality that she is already a socialist nation.
How is socialism working for us so far? If you are a recipient of the government's generosity, which forces others to pay for all the “free stuff”, then you would agree that the socialist ideology has been very good for you. If you were connected with the socialist elite in power, then you would say that corporate welfare is great, even though, in the process, the nation is being pushed over the cliff.
There is nothing exceptionally good when the national debt is climbing above the $18 trillion mark, there are 94 million people without employment and over 100 million are receiving some kind of “benefit” from the government. It is alarming, especially, when the government wants to regulate every aspect of our lives. It is disastrous when a government approves the death of the unborn and the redefinition of marriage and family, when it systematically attacks biblical Christianity, and when it encourages the evil obsession to disarm law-abiding citizens. The Obama administration has every intention to continue to promote open borders and multiculturalism, which will continue to fundamentally transform the nation, therefore intensifying the social boiling pot.
If this trend continues in America, be honest and answer this question: What do you think the future of America will look like?
Do you recognize the name Norman Mattoon Thomas? If not, most likely you are familiar with the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), an organization that is fully dedicated to destroying Christianity in our country. They wrongly believe that Christ can be eliminated not only off the face of America but the entire world. Thomas was one of the founders of the ACLU along with Roger Nash Baldwin, Crystal Eastman and Felix Frankfurter.
Why should we care about Thomas in particular? For the following reason: he was a six-time presidential candidate for the Socialist party of America and was an American Presbyterian minister, famous for his socialist ideology. A quote is attributed to him, although that is questionable because many politicians from the conservative field have used it. Whether he said it or not doesn’t change its content: "The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of 'liberalism,' they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened." And, another Thomas quote: "I no longer need to run as a Presidential Candidate for the Socialist Party. The Democratic Party has adopted our platform."
Let us compare the above with what Roger Baldwin wrote in his book, Liberty Under the Soviets, "I joined. I don’t regret being a part of the Communist tactic, which increased the effectiveness of a good cause. I knew what I was doing. I was not an innocent liberal. I wanted what the Communists wanted…” Baldwin also specified, “We are for SOCIALISM, disarmament, and ultimately for abolishing the state itself... We seek the social ownership of property, the abolition of the propertied class, and the SOLE CONTROL of those who produce wealth. COMMUNISM is the goal.”
Why did Norman Mattoon Thomas embrace the antagonistic ideology to the biblical worldview? For the same reason others before him did who were raised in the Christian or Jewish religion; such as, Charles Darwin (Anglican), Karl Marx (from a Jewish family converted to Protestant Christianity), Friedrich Engels (grew up as a Protestant Christian) who co-authored with Marx The Communist Manifesto (1848), Vladimir Lenin (of Jewish origins), Joseph Stalin (raised in the Greek Orthodox Church and studied for the priesthood) (1894–99). Adolf Hitler (baptized a Catholic, was an altar boy and wanted to become a priest). Benito Mussolini (attended the Catholic Church with his mother; his father was an atheist). Other Christians, who turned away from the faith and became philosophers of socialism, influenced all these men. Their ideas, for the most part, continue to dominate all areas of American life and their impact is still pushing the progressive movement forward, therefore diminishing the moral and cultural landscape of our beloved country.
The destruction of their socialist, communist and fascist legacy is indisputable; the 19th, 20th and 21st centuries testify against them. As you can see, it is not enough for anyone to bear the name of Christian or of a Conservative as a guarantee that his or her ideology is grounded in the biblical worldview or in the full counsel of God. We must look for the evidence and outcome of their profession.
For 200 years, American politicians have used the biblical language to win elections. The problem has been that most of them were and are wolves in sheep's clothing.
The deeper we submerge into social chaos, the more people become desperate; it is very sad to say that this includes the majority of Christians. Jesus said that the Holy Spirit’s purpose was to teach and lead His followers into all truth, (John 14:26; 16:12-14). Even though this promise was originally given to the apostles, they in turn applied it to all the believers. John the apostle wrote how every believer in Christ is capable of having the knowledge of God, and he complemented it with the following statement, “you have no need that anyone should teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about everything, and is true, and is no lie—just as it has taught you, abide in him.” (1 John 2:20, 27) Does this mean that everything we learn from those who say the Holy Spirit is teaching them is 100 percent accurate? We can learn from them, but we are responsible to process and discern what we hear and see from others. One thing is certain; we can never be independent from the Revealed Word of God and claim to be accurate. The Holy Spirit is the author of The Word and it’s the instrument He uses to teach Christ's followers in order for them to grow into the fullness of Christ and imitate God (Ephesians 4:13-14; 5:1). We totally depend upon the Holy Spirit as our divine teacher (Ephesians 6:17; John 6:33; Ephesians 5:18-19; Colossians 3:16).
In the early 1930s, Protestants were the majority in Germany (67%) and Catholics (33%). Would you say Germany clearly professed their faith to be within the Christian camp? Yet, they believed the lies of one man. The only exceptions were a minority of pastors and their churches who opposed Nazism: the rest of the Confessing Church, and many others, believed the circumstances didn’t meet the demand for opposing the Jewish persecution.
In Christian nations, evil politician always use the Christian language of loving our neighbors, care for those in need of food, clothing, shelter and health, to unite against all manner of violence and gun control, aka confiscating guns.
Let me close with part of Hitler’s speech addressed to Christian Germany at Wurzburg on June 27, 1937. See how Protestants, other non-denominational Christians, and Catholics were fooled into accepting Hitler as a Christian. Let us learn what happened to Christians when the National Socialist German Workers Party (Nazis), took total control of Germany, and what are the lessons for Christian America today?
"In this hour I would ask of the Lord God only this: that He would give His blessing to our work, and that He may ever give us the courage to do the right. I am convinced that men who are created by God should live in accordance with the will of the Almighty. No man can fashion world history unless upon his purpose and his powers there rests the blessings of this Providence."
