Child Sex Trafficking on the Rise

Nena Arias | September 7, 2020

In this editorial I want to touch on a very outrageously sensitive subject that is breaking my heart. It is the exploitation of innocent children for money, prostitution and all kinds of perverted sexual activities of deviants among us. What does it say about a society where these practices are on the rise by leaps and bounds?

The Department of Justice describes what the sex trafficking of children entails in the following description:

Child sex trafficking refers to the recruitment, harboring, transportation, provision, obtaining, patronizing, or soliciting of a minor for the purpose of a commercial sex act.  Offenders of this crime who are commonly referred to as traffickers, or pimps, target vulnerable children and gain control over them using a variety of manipulative methods.  Victims frequently fall prey to traffickers who lure them in with an offer of food, clothes, attention, friendship, love, and a seemingly safe place to sleep. After cultivating a relationship with the child and engendering a false sense of trust, the trafficker will begin engaging the child in prostitution, and use physical, emotional, and psychological abuse to keep the child trapped in a life of prostitution. It is common for traffickers to isolate victims by moving them far away from friends and family, altering their physical appearances, or continuously moving them to new locations. Victims are heavily conditioned to remain loyal to the trafficker and to distrust law enforcement.  No child is immune to becoming a victim of child sex trafficking, regardless of the child’s race, age, socioeconomic status, or location, and every child involved in this form of commercial sexual exploitation is a victim.

Any sane person will agree with me when I say that sex trafficking and exploitation of any human being, especially innocent children, is one of the most despicable, heinous, abhorrent, vile, abominable, mean, low-down, loathsome, odious crimes against humanity. Believe me, my list of descriptive words to express the revolting feeling I get just at the mere thought of this practice that is going on right under our noses here in America and around the world could be a mile long.  And to think that child trafficking is going on in ALL 50 states in America!

How common is child trafficking in the US? The U.S. Department of Health & Human Services estimated that between 240,000 and 325,000 children alone are at risk for sexual exploitation each year. Estimates also suggest that in 2018, over half (51.6%) of the criminal human trafficking cases active in the US were sex trafficking cases involving only children.

Who buys a trafficked child for sex? Here is the shocker! You wouldn’t guess because they are otherwise ordinary men. It is reported that most just blend right back into their families, jobs and neighborhoods. Until the next time. They are seldom caught and held accountable for their despicable acts.

Children are our most precious treasures and mistreatment of them should never even enter into the mind let alone carry out such blood-curdling acts on them. But of course, with the cheapening of life through horrific acts like abortion that massacres the unborn by the millions, what else is to be expected?

No civilization that has ever committed such atrocities will ever survive and will receive the harshest judgments of God who values each life greatly.

Here is a warning to all of us. Once we know about these atrocities and do nothing to stop them, we are complicit and will be held accountable. There are many wonderful and compassionate organizations who have dived right in to do the arduous and dangerous work of rescuing these precious children. I highly recommend you find a credible organization and vet them to make sure they are reputable and get behind them. They need our help. Contacting our representatives in government to make them aware is also a very good and necessary option.

Jesus said: Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me:
for of such is the kingdom of heaven.”
(Matthew 19:14)
